Degas Wine the Easy Way
From the Beginning
It all started with a love for wine and a curiosity of how to make it at home. The joy of watching the fermentation take hold, the sweet fruity aroma as the gasses escape from the wine, and the musical sound of the bubbler bubbling. Wine is the nectar of the gods for many and for us it’s a passion project!
Whether you’re an avid wine-drinker, or someone who just loves the process of winemaking, it’s a pastime that can be incredibly satisfying and enjoyable. If you’ve ever wanted to make your own wine, you’re in luck! It’s not as hard as you might think. All you need is some basic equipment, a few quality ingredients, and your willingness to learn.
Finding a New Way
Once our wine stopped bubbling, we would not wait to get it into the bottle and share it with our friends. There was a problem though, too much C02 and the wine was still cloudy. The speed up the clarification process we knew we had to degas the wine. The idea of using a wine whip to just stir up the sediment more or using an incredibly too powerful and obnoxiously loud vacuum pump just did not make sense. That is where Gassy Grape was born. We set out to make a right sized and powered vacuum pump for degassing wine that can be used without waking the neighbors.
